SOILWORK Frontman Checks In From Vancouver Studio
April 23, 2007Singer Björn "Speed" Strid of the Swedish metallers SOILWORK is currently in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada laying down vocal tracks for the group's new album with the help of STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mastermind Devin Townsend.
"The vocal recording is going great!" he writes on the band's web site. "It feels really good teaming up once again with Devin. Five years have passed since we worked together on the 'Natural Born Chaos' album. Can't believe it… Well, he sure knows how to get the best out of my voice. He really knows what buttons to push to bring my personality to the forefront, even though he smells like ass and hasn't showered since I arrived.
"We're more than halfway through the album after eight days of work and I truly feel it's my best performance ever. [Devin] definately knows how singers feel, being stuck in a vocal booth for two weeks screaming their lungs out, so he has provided me with an amp and a couple of guitars that I can jam with during breaks. Awesome… I thank him for that."

Songtitles set to appear on the new SOILWORK album include "Your Beloved Scapegoat", "Light Discovering Darkness", "The Snare Broken" and "The Pittsburgh Syndrome".
SOILWORK recently announced the addition of guitarist Daniel Antonsson (DIMENSION ZERO, PATHOS) to the group's ranks.
SOILWORK's last CD, "Stabbing the Drama", is available now on Nuclear Blast Records. The follow-up to 2003's "Figure Number Five" was recorded at Fascination Street studios in Örebro and Dug-Out Productions in Uppsala, Sweden with producer Daniel Bergstrand (MESHUGGAH, IN FLAMES, STUCK MOJO).
Guitarist Peter Wichers left SOILWORK in December 2005 to pursue a career in producing.
